Publicist – Film (International)

The Film team works across all genres of film for both International and UK theatrical and streaming releases. From indie breakouts to awards juggernauts and everything in between, the Film team collaborate with a wide range of filmmakers, distributors and journalists. Recent international titles have included AGATHA ALL ALONG, POOR THINGS, ROAD HOUSE, THE IDEA OF YOU, KINDS OF KINDNESS, I AM CELINE DION, STAR WARS: THE ACOLYTE, BLITZ and SALTBURN.

Job function

To be a part of the account teams working on international film campaigns providing administrative and logistical support. Also, to provide administrative support on international festival accounts and within the wider film team as required and provide assistance in other PR areas when requested.

International travel will be required as part of the role.

Successful applicants will ideally have:

  • At least two years’ film publicity experience, ideally within international and/ or festival PR.
  • A good background in reaching journalists & the public with creative story telling across a range of media, including socials.
  • Excellent writing skills.
  • Strong organisational & planning skills, and the ability to prioritise work effectively and be flexible and calm with a varied workload.
  • A good track record in communicating well with a wide range of people by phone and email.
  • Ability to be able to speak a/multiple foreign language(s) is a bonus!

Key tasks (International Accounts)

  • Attend client meetings, virtually or in person.
  • Distribute press releases where required.
  • Oversee team’s compilation and distribution of client reports and press materials.
  • Oversee accurate and prompt press coverage distribution to clients.
  • Organise and manage press briefings and launches.
  • Plan junkets alongside senior team members including assisting with press check-in, talent handling and junket logistics.
  • Compile talent schedules, and liaise with talent representatives as directed by senior team members.
  • Manage day-to-day running of specific client accounts, aiming to fulfil the agreed brief with senior supervision.
  • Proactively pitch and place feature coverage both at festivals and internationally either in place of, or in conjunction with the local distributor.
  • Support for red-carpets and other events as required including talent handling.
  • Possess and continue to develop excellent film, showbiz, news, features and trade contacts across all media outlets.
  • Read and monitor key media for client cuttings and associated coverage.
  • Have a broad knowledge of, and take an active interest in, the film industry as a whole.
  • Social/influencer research and outreach (occasionally).
  • Researching and updating potential festival titles.
  • Attend international film festivals regularly, to be part of the team pitching and scheduling interviews and talent handle, plus other support to the team as required.

Key tasks (Film team general)

  • Keep abreast of film media personnel moves/changes and ensure these are communicated to ensure the database and relevant reports are updated accordingly.
  • Cover team members’ absences as appropriate.
  • Contribute to departmental brainstorms.
  • Daily and weekend newspaper reading and timely reporting.
  • Support any media management and red carpet events the team are handling.

In addition to the above, members of the film team have the opportunity to get involved in assisting the Awards teams with their screening programmes and Q&As, and helping the Events team with premiere red carpets for projects that the film team are not involved in, though day to day responsibilities will take priority.  

Reporting line

The Publicist will report directly to a Senior Associate Director and an Associate Director within the international team, and supported by an international Assistant Publicist.  

This is a permanent full-time role (working hours 9.30-6.00 weekdays, with occasional out of hours working essential), with 25 days holiday per annum (plus all public holidays), to begin as soon as possible.
