Saisons Russes Ballet

The former Bolshoi Ballet star turned entrepreneur/producer, Andris Liepa, brought his SAISONS RUSSES ballet company from Moscow to London in July for a highly entertaining season at the Coliseum.

Dedicating the programme to the great Sergei Diaghilev, the early 20th century pioneer of Russian ballet and talents such as Vaslav Nijinsky and choreographer Mikhail Fokine, Andris Liepa presented 'Petrushka', 'Chopiniana/Les Sylphides', 'Scheherezade' and the London premiere of 'Golden Cockerel', a rarely performed ballet/opera by Rimsky-Korsakov which premiered in 1909.

225 dancers, musicians, performers and technicians were in London to make this one of the most memorable and well reviewed Russian Seasons for many years – the company is poised to return in 2015 with a run of 'Swan Lake' at the Coliseum.
