The Revenant

Premier handled the theatrical publicity campaign for THE REVENANT on behalf of distributor Twentieth Century Fox. The film opened to strong critical response, topped the box office for several weeks and is a strong contender for the highest grossing film in the UK for 2016. The publicity team worked closely with Premier’s awards team, who handled the BAFTA and Ampas campaigns for the film in the UK.

THE REVENANT won five awards at the BAFTAs (including Best Film, Best Director and Best Actor), won three Golden Globes, and at the Oscars™ won Best Director, Best Actor and Best Cinematography from 12 nominations. The film has dominated UK national awards press coverage, with many publications backing Leonardo DiCaprio for the Academy’s Best Actor award.

Director Alejandro G. Iñárritu and the cast completed long-lead cornerstone press in the US, kicking off the film’s extensive coverage and creating strong mainstream consumer awareness of the film. A UK premiere and short-lead press day took place the day before release, co-inciding with the Oscar™ nominations announcement. Blanket coverage was secured, including commercial radio, daytime magazine shows, evening current affairs programmes, and the film dominated national news.

In addition to the traditional campaign elements, Premier organised a unique Boot Camp experience for press inspired by the film, led by the Bear Grylls Survival Academy, resulting in solid feature coverage - including Shortlist, Metro and Daily Star Sunday.
