January 2020 sees the culmination of over six month’s work for Premier’s TV team on, Harlan Coben’s The Stranger, an eight-part Netflix original adapted from Harlan Coben’s book of the same name, launched on Netflix worldwide on the 30 January 2020.

The team managed the unit and TX publicity campaign, working closely once again with RED Production Company (Years and Years, Trust Me, Happy Valley). Activity during unit included press set visits during filming in Manchester and producing a press pack which featured the series and episodic information as well as interviews with the leading cast members such as Richard Armitage, Jennifer Saunders, Siobhan Finneran, Hannah John-Kamen, Anthony Head, Shaun Dooley, Paul Kaye, Stephen Rea and Dervla Kirwan.

As the much-anticipated launch date drew closer, the team at Premier worked alongside Netflix to organise a screening to showcase episode one to media. The screening was followed by a Q&A with creator Harlan Coben, executive producer Nicola Shindler, writer Danny Brocklehurst and cast members Richard Armitage, Jennifer Saunders, Hannah John-Kamen and Siobhan Finneran and was attended by print, online and broadcast press as well as special guests Stephen Fry and Richard Osman.

With over ten cast members in attendance at the screening, it was an opportune moment to arrange a press junket to secure press that included round table interviews, one to one profile interviews and filmed pieces (with Premier Creative) all set to run ahead of launch.

The final aspect of the campaign included a trailer release and broadcast drive to build anticipation for the launch of the show. The trailer, which gained national coverage and had many fans and press recognising the show as their “next binge-watch”, reached over 300k views within three days of going live.

Finally, having secured profile pieces across national titles, including cover features on Mail on Sunday YOU Mag, TV & Satellite Week, Sunday Mirror’s Notebook and securing a range of cast members to appear on multiple terrestrial channels’ chat shows such as The Graham Norton Show, ITV Lorraine and Sunday Brunch, millions of viewers and readers alike were ready for the “nail biting thriller”, Harlan Coben’s The Stranger.
