A League of Their Own

In July 2023 Premier announced that former Lioness Jill Scott has landed a new role as a new team captain on Sky’s A League of Their Own, with her very own ‘Angel of the North’ statue erected beside Antony Gormley’s original in Gateshead. The huge bronze statue measuring over 4 metres tall and weighing in at 500kg – equivalent to three Lionesses – was unveiled to the much-decorated defender at a purple carpet event and broadcast live on ITV Good Morning Britain. At the event, Jill also spoke with Press Association, Daily Star, Sky Sports News, talkSPORT.com, and regional media ITV Tyne Tees, BBC Radio Newcastle and Metro Radio. The event was attended by the Mayor of Gateshead and players from Gateshead College and Boldon Girls, Jill’s former teams.
